The anti-Islamic video that has caused uproar and has led to  a violent protest in Libya is going to stay online, despite the White House’s request for it to be removed.

According to Yahoo! News, Google Inc. said that it was censoring the video in Indonesia and India after they blocked it in Egypt and Libya, but they have kept it online for other outside countries.

The White House has urged Google to investigate if the video violates Youtube’s Terms of Services, but they said that it is within guidelines.

Google claims removing the video would be a response to political pressure as opposed to complying with a local law.

The company said:

“We’ve restricted access to it in countries where it is illegal such as India and Indonesia, as well as in Libya and Egypt, given the very sensitive situations in these two countries,” the company said. “This approach is entirely consistent with principles we first laid out in 2007.”
