This might be the best news we’ve heard in a long time. Hip-hop legend and free speech crusader, Luther Campbell “Uncle Luke” is running for Mayor in Miami’s Dade County. So how did Luther “Luke” Campbell, the former member of legendary rap group 2 Live Crew, end up on the ballot?
Former Mayor Carlos Alvarez was ousted last month in a recall election which left the field open to anyone who wants to run. The special election is on May 24 and early voting starts on May 9. Viable candidate Campbell has come a long way, today he coaches high school football and is a political columnist.
Whoever is elected the new mayor will serve until November 2012. In the meantime, Uncle Luke has some campaigning to do, he needs a slogan that will capture the hearts and minds of the Dade-county community. And luckily we have those slogans.
“Me Love Dade County Long Time!”
This is just the truth, Luke was born and raised in Miami and he loves his city.
“Face Down, Dade County Rises Up.”
We had to clean this one up a little bit, instead of “Face down, ass up,” this new slogan is more upbeat and positive.
“Go Dade County, It’s Your Birthday.”
Lets just say when Luke gets inaugurated, Dade County is going have a big celebration.
“Give ‘Em Hell, Uncle Luke!”
Harry Truman said it first in 1948, but Luke will give ’em hell in Dade County.
“Read My Lips.”
More of a soundbite, but it just seems like the right slogan for Uncle Luke.
“Pu**y And Prosperity In Dade County”
Taking a page out of the 1956 playbook by U.S. presidential campaign of Dwight D. Eisenhower.
“I Like Luke”
We remixed the 1952 U.S presidential campaign slogan for Dwight D. Eisenhower. Everybody likes Luke, don’t they?
