Every year the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund chooses an up and coming designer and awards him or her a $300,000 grant and mentoring opportunities with other CFDA members. This year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner is Joseph Altuzarra.

Born and raised in France, and of French and Chinese-American descent, Joseph came to America to study art. Then he became an intern for Marc Jacobs and was accepted as a design assistant in Givenchy. After the Givenchy stint, he decided to go to New York and launch his own line, Altuzarra.

Founded in 2009, Altuzarra has been recognized as a womenswear brand that consistently puts out well designed collections.

The runners-up are jeweler Pamela Love and Creatures of the Wind’s Shane Gabier and Chris Peters, whose respective companies each receive $100,000.

This year like the last, J.Crew will be partnering with the CFDA Fund and will hopefully release a collaborative collection with Altuzarra.
