Classes are canceled today at the Infinity School on Chicago’s Southside after two students were stabbed by a classmate Thursday morning. One of the students has been pronounced dead.

HE HAS A NAME: Daniel Parmertor, Student Shot & Killed At Chardon High School

According to ABC, the stabbing occurred about 7:30 a.m. in the 10200 block of South Crandon Avenue.

The alleged killer is a 17-year-old student at the school and has been taken into police custody.

The injured teens, ages 17 and 18, were initially taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition, but one of them later died. The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Gail Cousins, a teacher at the AMIKids Infinity alternative High School, told ABC:

“The kids, they all lined up and started to get into an altercation about something.”

A student told ABC7 the stabbing may have been connected with an altercation between the same students on Wednesday.

AMIKids Infinity Chicago High School is an alternative therapeutic school that contracts with the Chicago Board of Education. A spokesperson for Infinity has about 20 CPS and non-CPS students ranging in age from 14 to 16.

Sherri Ulleg, director of communications at AMIKids, said:

“We have kids who are in the traditional school system and they are either expelled or long-term suspended from Chicago Public Schools, and they come to us for education.”

Infinity is closed Thursday, but school officials said they plan to reopen Friday and have grief counselors available to talk to students and staff.

This latest school tragedy comes on the heels of a shooting rampage at Chardon High School in Ohio where a 17-year-old student randomly shot and killed three students and injured two others.
