‘I have a message for you to go back to the gate immediately so make the left turn when able,’ says the controller. ‘I don’t know exactly why but you can call your company for the reason.’
‘We’re trying to figure out what’s going on here right now,’ says someone from the airline. ‘I’d like to request you to keep the flight plan open right now.’
Faisal Shahzad is the name of the suspect police arrested in connection with the Times Square attempted bombing. Faisal Shahzad is 30 year U.S. citizen of Pakistani descent. He lived in Connecticut and was caught at JFK trying onboard a Emirates Air flight to Dubai. No word yet why he was allowed to actually board the flight before he was arrested, but he was pretty darn close to getting away.
US Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement Tuesday:
Earlier this evening, Faisal Shahzad was arrested in connection with the attempted car bombing in New York on Saturday. Mr. Shahzad, an American citizen, was taken into custody at JFK Airport in New York as he attempted to board a flight to Dubai. (to read full statement click here)
Like Tim McViegh when he blew up Oklahoma City law enforcement investigators recovered the vehicle identification number to track where and who the car came from, they also found the number from a disposable cellphone which led to police raiding Faisal Shahzad home in Connecticut. Investigation is still ongoin,g but at least now we have somebody in custody.
Faisal Shahzad is expected to be in court this morning.
