Janelle Monae joins the long list of artists contributing to the soundtrack of Netflix’s new series The Get Down.

Last week, Miguel released his Hot Chocolate-sampled song “Cadillac,” and now, Monae premieres her contribution on Apple’s Beats 1 radio show. Janelle called into Ebro Darden’s show to debut  “Hum Along & Dance.”

Inspired by the Jackson 5’s 1970 classic “Hum Along & Dance,” Monae and producers Jeff Bhasker and Emile deliver a feel-good track that captures the essence of the Baz Luhrmann-directed series.

The Get Down – “a mythic saga of how New York at the brink of bankruptcy gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco” – premieres on Netflix this Friday, August 12. Take a listen to “Hum Along & Dance” below.
