Weeks after the tragic death of American journalist James Foley comes another eerie tragedy to add to the heap of puzzling messages from ISIS.

The Islamic State terror group has executed one of their own commanders after he allegedly passed on information about IS to the UK. Abu Ubaida Almaghribi was once the Islamic State’s head of security in Aleppo, Syria, and was in charge of a prison where journalist James Foley and other Americans were held as hostages.

Although his real identity has remained unknown, Ubaida is considered to be a Dutch national of Moroccan decent. ISIS has admitted that Ubaida was executed the day after video footage of James Foley’s beheading surfaced the web. According to reports on Daily Mail:

Ubaida Almaghribi, who is originally from Morocco, and served as the head of intelligence services of the ISIS organisation in Aleppo, Syria, was beheaded after being accused of reporting information on the activities, movements, and plans of ISIS to the UK. ISIS militants reportedly beheaded a group of prominent leaders including Abu Ubaida Almaghribi, because of doubts regarding their allegiance and work for foreign entities.

A 19-year-old young Belgian man by the name of Jejoen Bontinck claims to have given information to Western agencies about the group that was holding Foley and other prisoners in Aleppo. He said Abu Ubaida Almaghribi was the head of security at that prison. Bontinck says that he and Foley were held for at least 3 weeks before he escaped and according to the chief executive of the Global Post, Philip Balboni, the young man has offered excellent information on where James was. In case you missed it, here is more on the beheading of James Foley.
