In fashion for over 15 years, designer Marissa Webb cued inspiration from her own style journal by translating her city gal chic look to the runway to create a collection that’s the literal definition of ready-to-wear. And considering Webb’s current gig as Banana Republic’s creative director, her wearable design aesthetic should come as no surprise.
Presenting garments that embodied femininity with a hint of masculine touch, the designs spied on the runway delivered new meaning to the classics and displayed all-purpose garments that could be duplicated by choosing pieces from your favorite fashion chain stores.
Models sported feathered fishtail braids, while presenting Webb’s mix of flowy-feminine mini dresses topped with transparent fabric cargo vests, oversized dark-hued jackets, chill shirt-dresses, and a multiple revamps of the classic trench.
Trends Spotted: Manhattanite street chic. Metallic tweeds, moto jackets, asymmetrical silhouettes, cut-out gold toed booties, denim on denim, knotted waist belts, and over-sized errthang.
Faces in The Front Row: Estelle (Singer), Elle Varner (Singer), Coco Rocha (Model), and Louise Roe (Style Personality).
My Rating: Everything about Webb’s presentation piqued my fashion senses – from the hair and makeup, and effortless styling, to the high-quality tailored pieces.
My Favorite Look: The olive side-belted asymmetrical trench dress atop a collared white shirt dress. Two pieces which could be worn as separates perfectly in union as one simple ensemble.
