2014 Essence Music Festival - Day 4

It’s the most wonderful time of the year (no, not Christmas) – it’s concert season and it’s time to start putting your ‘fit together for the Essence Festival.

From July 2nd until July 5th, New Orleans will be flourishing with concertgoers who are excited for upcoming performances by Kendrick LamarMissy ElliottUsherMary J. Blige and more. But what would a festival be without the hot fashions?

You can take a page from Erykah Badu‘s style book and keep it cute, but comfy. Badu often opts for items that are free-flowing with eccentric prints, but in case you don’t have the Badu bucks, check out ChicNova.com’s Ethnic Style Print Harem Trousers for only $27.

Janelle Monae

When it comes to accessories, Janelle Monae always has fun and classy pieces. The “Tightrope” singer knows how to effortlessly rock bold baubles, and still keep her look simple. Feeling inspired by Janelle’s style? Cop the crystal ear cuff from Brazenelle.com for under $25 and a fun, floppy black felt hat from Dorothy Perkins for only $25.

Crop tops and comfortable shoes are perfect festival attire. Songstress SZA has mastered the “unbothered” look. Try a classic gray cropped top from Genuine-People.com, paired with a pair of low-top white Converse sneakers to achieve the look.

In case there’s a chance of rain, remember that rain boots are always fashion forward…contrary to popular belief.
