The legal documents accuse Jean of “elder abuse and inflicting emotional distress on Kasem’s children from a previous marriage by restricting access to their father before his death,” according to Billboard. Prior to his death at age 82, Kasem suffered from dementia and a severe bedsore.
Kasem’s three children, Kerri, Julie, Michael, and his brother Mouner, are all seeking $250,000, though the jury would ultimately decide the amount of the reward. The children were battling with his widow for quite some time over visitation access prior to his death. In a statement, Kerri said: “We would rather see her in jail than receive one dime. We don’t care about the money. We care about justice.”
