Brandy took the stage and was honored at Sunday night’s Soul Train Music Awards when viewers noticed that she changed the words to her track “Talk About Our Love” and included a lyric about someone’s “fanbase jumping in,” The Grio reports. Of course, fans thought that the change was a direct shot at Monica, especially after Mo laughed at the fact that Brandy wasn’t here for the #SoGoneChallenge and said that her relationship with Brandy was “a test from God” while on The Real.
But just like the last couple of shady moments between the ladies, Monica called for peace, saying that there is only love between them and even praised her “The Boy Is Mine” partner, calling her a vocal beast. She responded to a comment on Instagram, saying, “Love that goes BOTH ways.. it’s disappointing to leave ICU and come to my page to see the foolishness of the 90s ever so present amongst BOTH groups . I will forever respect the legend she is & the history we created. All of you guys do the same ??She’s a vocal beast and we’re both great in our own right!! ??This is her moment. She earned and deserves it . No mention or @ of my name needed !!”
But, do you really believe there’s no drama between the Grammy Award-winning ladies? During an appearance on Where Are They Now earlier this week, Monica dished on her relationship with the late/great Whitney Houston, saying that Houston was like a fairy godmother to her. But again, Brandy wasn’t here for it.
Everybody wanted what we had/have and I am blessed enough to have been your friend, #FairyGodDaughter and make history with you as my #FairyGodMother — and now you're my angel— I wish that you were here in the physical to witness so much of my courage that you stayed on me about– but I know you are watching and I know what you expect me to do. Our bond is unmatched… I love you Nippy👁 P.S. so many people liked my performance at the #soultrainawards , I think you would have too. #fingerscrossed
She took to IG for more subtle shade-throwing, posting a photo of Whitney with the caption, “Everybody wanted what we had/have and I am blessed enough to have been your friend, #FairyGodDaughter and make history with you as my #FairyGodMother. Our bond is unmatched.”
Brandy Norwood just may be the queen of all shade.
